Opis projektu
This one-hour workshop is designed for students interested in developing practical English language skills that are essential for education and future careers. The workshop focuses on the characteristics of formal English as a foreign language, a variety of language commonly used in academic writing, official correspondence, job applications, and international communication. Participants will discover why mastering formal style is important and how it can help them communicate more clearly, professionally, and confidently.
During the workshop, students will engage in a series of interactive activities. They will compare formal and informal language, analyse authentic examples of emails and short texts, identify typical features of formal style, and discuss common mistakes made by learners of English. Through guided exercises and group tasks, participants will practice transforming informal expressions into more appropriate formal alternatives and applying these conventions in realistic communication scenarios.
By taking part in the workshop, students will gain a better understanding of the linguistic and stylistic features of formal English. They will develop their ability to recognize different registers, choose suitable vocabulary and structures, and adapt their language to specific contexts and audiences. These skills will support their future academic work and professional development.
No prior specialist knowledge is required. The workshop is open to students with an intermediate level of English or higher. Participants do not need to bring any materials; all resources will be provided during the session. Active participation and curiosity are strongly encouraged.
